Xavier College was established in 1953 as a boys’ school by the Catholic Archdiocese of Suva, to provide Christian education, particularly to the Indian youth in the western parts of Fiji and was entrusted to the Columban Fathers. In 1970 co-education was introduced to adapt to the changing signs of the time. At the request of the Archbishop of Suva, the Montfort Brothers of St. Gabriel took charge of the College in December 1987. From its inception the College has been one of the premier educational institutions in the country. Thousands of students who have passed through the gates of Xavier College are well placed in the society all over the world. The original Xavier College, Ba Fiji Monogram was designed by an Irish Columban priest who served at Xavier College, Ba Fiji for the benefit of educating students and never in return stopped students and ex-students to restrict the use of the monogram. We celebrate our Reverend Father’s art work till today as he may no longer be with us physically but is present in our souls spiritually.
